226 Whereas the County Commissioners for Dorchester County by virtue of a supplement to the act entitled "An additional supplement to the act to regulate Ferries have contracted with the said Wm Pickram to keep the Ferry over the North West fork of Nanticoke River commonly called Crotchers Ferry and agree to allow the said Wm Pickram the sum of One Hundred & ninety nine Dollars & 50 c Current money for the same. Now the Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden Wm Pickram shall well faithfully and diligently keep the said Ferry over the North West fork of Nanticoke River commonly called Crotchers Ferry from the dawn of day light in the morning until the expiration of day light in the evening each day from the tenth day of May 1856 until the first day of January eighteen hundred and fifty seven and shall keep constantly and in good order a scow that will safely carry three passengers and three horses at one trip with one able bodied and skillful hand to attend the said Ferry and shall not charge or receive any greater price for services than what is allowed by law Signed sealed & delivered his in the presence of Wm x Pickram (seal) E W Tull mark his S. H. x Rhodes (seal) mark Rich.d Rhodes (seal) The above Bond & sureties appeared by the County Commissioners for Dorchester County May 12 1856 Josiah Jump Clk to Commissioners The State of Maryland Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bond √ from xd was received and recorded on the 12th day of May 1856 to wit: J. W. Benson & Others Know all men by these presents that we J W Benson James Robinson & Edward Burford of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum of Three Hundred Dollars Current money of Maryland to be paid to the said State or its certain Attorney to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our heirs Executors and administrators in the whole and for the whole jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this ninth day of May Eighteen Hundred and fifty six.
