I Henrietta Brannock (administratrix of Thomas Brannock deceased) of
Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the Sum
of Seven Hundred and thirty Six dollars current money of Maryland to me in
hand paid by William Spedden of the Same county and State aforesaid at or before
the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
Have granted, bargained and Sold and by these presents Do grant bargain and
sell unto the said William Spedden his heirs executors administrators
and assigns one negro woman named Julia Ann aged about Thirty Two years
a Slave for life one negro child named Rachel (daughter of Said Julia Ann)
aged about Eighteen months a Slave for life [both off which said negroes
Julia Ann and Rachel were sold by the Said Henrietta Brannock administratrix
as aforesaid, to William Spedden on the Seventeenth day of September
Eighteen Hundred and fifty five in the pursuance of an order of the Orphans Court
of Dorchester County passed on the 10th day of September Eighteen Hundred
and fifty five]               To Have and To Hold the Said described negroes
Julia Ann and Rachel to the Said William Spedden his heirs executors administrators
and assigns forever.                  In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my
hand and Seal, this Twenty Seventh day of May Eighteen Hundred and fifty
Six                                                                              her

                Charles Corkran J. P.                                    Administratrix

State of Maryland Dorchester County, to wit:
                      Be it remembered that on this Twenty Seventh day of
May Eighteen Hundred and fifty Six before the Subscriber a Justice of
the Peace in and for Said County and State aforesaid personally appeared
Henrietta Brannock administratrix of Thomas Brannock and
acknowledged the foregoing Bill of Sale or instrument of writing to be her
act and deed            In Testimony whereof, I have hereunto subscribed
my name on the day and year aforesaid

Samuel McCready          on the 26th day of May in the year of our Lord
Andrew McCready &    one Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty Six, to wit:
William Dayton                              Know all men by these presents that
we Samuel McCready Andrew McCready William Dayton and
of Dorchester county in the State of Maryland for and in consideration
of the Sum of Eight Hundred Dollars current money of Maryland to us
in hand paid by John S. Staplefort of the Same county and state aforesaid
at or before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof
we the Said Samuel McCready Andrew McCready William Dayton
do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant bargain and sell unto the Said John S. Staplefort his
