In Dorchester County orphans court May 9th Anno Domini 1856
                The aforegoing and within bond was this day laid before the court
who after due consideration do hereby approve the Same
                         Witness our hands            Zadock H. Rosse   Judges of the Orphan's
Test Tho. H. Hicks Reg. Wills D. C.         Levin Jones             Court for Dorchester coy.


Anthony C. Thompson      Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that
       √      to      xd            the following Deed of Manumission was received and
Sundry Negroes               recorded on the 12th day of May 1856 to wit:
                                                    To all whom it may concern be it known
that I Anthony C. Thompson of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland
for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released
from Slavery, liberated, Manumitted and set free and by these presents do
hereby release from slavery, liberate manumit and set free the following Negro
Slaves when they shall attain the age of thirty years according to their respective
ages as herein set forth to wit:   Negro man Robert Sprigs and twenty
six years on the first of January Eighteen hundred & fifty Six Negro Man Levin
Tylor aged twenty four years as afsd. Negro man Jerry Ennalls Slacum aged
twenty two years Negro lad Abram Sprigs aged 16 years Negro lad John
Henry Kiah aged fourteen years Negro land Jerry Young aged 14 years Negro
boy Mosses Young aged twelve years Negro boy Frank A. Young aged ten
years, Negro boy George Young aged Nine years, Negro boy Alexander
Kiah aged Seven years Negro boy John Henry Ross aged six years Negro
boy Charles Edward Holmes aged 5 years, Negro boy Mosses Ross aged
four years, Negro boy Thomas Henry Nicolls aged two years, Negro woman
Mary Ross aged twenty four years Negro woman Phebe Kiah aged twenty
four years, Negro woman Cassey Nicols aged twenty four years, Negro woman
Charity Sprigs aged 20 years Negro woman Angeline Young aged twenty years,
Negro woman Nancy Young aged Seventeen years, negro woman Elisa Jane
Slacum aged Seventeen years Negro girl Lucinda Slacum aged eleven years
Negro Girl Kitty Merroca aged Fifteen years, Negro girl sarah Jane Kiah
of Phebe aged nine years Negro Girl Caroline Young of Angeline aged three
years, Negro Child Elisa Ann Young of Sarah aged two years Negro child
Kitty Ross of Mary aged two years, Negro child Mary Elizabeth Young of
Nancy aged two years and Sarah Elisabeth of Angeline two Months old
and them the aforenamed Negro Slaves, I do declare to be henceforth on the
first day of January after they attain the age of thirty years according to
the above ages free, Manumitted and discharged from all manner of
service or servitude to me my Executors or administrators forever

             In Witness whereof I Anthony C. Thompson have hereunto set name
and affixed my seal this Sixth day of May in the year of our Lord Eighteen
hundred Fifty Six (1856)
