Maryland Dorchester County to wit:  Be it remembered and it is hereby
certified that on this nineteenth day of January Anno Domini Eighteen Hundred and
fifty six personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for the
county and state aforesaid the within named James R. Norman party grantor in the above
Bill of sale or instrument of writing and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed
according to the purport true intent and meaning of the same.  At the same time came
before Justice as aforesaid John L. Wrightson party grantee in the above Bill of Sale or
instrument of writing and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that
the consideration set forth in this Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set
forth                          Acknowledged and sworn before           Charles Corkran


Joel Cornwell           Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following
Paid  From  Ex.d      Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the 19th day of January
Levin Stanley            1856 to wit
                                              Know all men by these presents.  That I Levin Stanley
of Dorchester County and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum
of forty five dollars and thirty five cents lawful money of the United States, in
hand paid by Joel Cornwell & sons at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged:  Have granted bargained and sold
and by these presents Do grant bargain and sell unto the said Joel Cornwell & sons
their Executors Administrators and Assigns, One grey mare named Poll To
Have and To Hold the said described Mare to the said Joel Cornwell & sons
their Executors Administrators and Assigns forever; and he the said Levin Stanley
for his Heirs, Executors and Administrators the said Levin Stanley unto the
said Joel Cornwell & sons their Executors, Administrators and Assigns against
him the said Levin Stanley Executors and Administrators and against all and
every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever
defend by these presents       In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my Hand
and Seal this the 21st day of December Eighteen hundred and fifty five
signed Sealed and Delivered                                            his
          in the presence of                                          Levin x Stanley   (seal)
                                        SS.                                         mark

       Be it Remembered, That on this the 21st day of December 1855 before
the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said County appears Levin Stanley
and acknowledges the above Instrument of Writing to be his act and deed
according to the true intent and meaning thereof.
                                        Acknowledged before      J. W. Robinson J. P.

State of Maryland Dorchester Co. to wit     
                                  On this 21st December 1855 ^personally appeared^ before the subscriber
a Justice of the Peace in and for said county appears Joel Cornwell C C Cornwell
& Lucius J. Cornwell and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty
God that the contents of the within Bill of Sale are just true & Bona fide
and that no part of the Same has been paid
