171 William H. Ross & others Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following √ From xd Assignment of Mortgage was received and recorded on the 9th day Edward G. Sturgeon & others of August 1855 to wit: This Indenture made this Twenty Seventh day of July in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty five between Edward G. Sturgeon James Murray and Henry R. Hazlehurst of the City of Baltimore in the state of Maryland of the first part and William H. Ross Charles Wright and William W. Dulaney of Sussex County in the State of Delaware of the second part whereas by Indenture dated the nineteenth day of September A. D. 1854 The Farmers and Merchants steamboat Company of Nanticoke River did assign and Convey by way of Mortgage unto the parties of first part hereto the Steamboat Called the Kent which was built in Baltimore in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty four and which is enrolled according to law at the Port of Baltimore as appears by the enrollment thereof dated on the fifth day of July in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty four and numbered one hundred and fifty three. Together with her engines and machinery tackle boats apparel and furniture to secure the payment of the Sum of Twelve Thousand Dollars according to the tenor of Certain promissory notes therein set forth And Whereas by an agreement dated the twenty sixth day of January Eighteen hundred and fifty five and endorsed on Said Mortgage the said parties of the first part hereto assigns and transferred to Hugh Martin and George W. Green a note of Hooper C. Hicks President &c for the Sum of Two Thousand three hundred and Sixty Six Dollars and Sixty seven cents being a part of said Mortgage debt and Secured by Said Mortgage And whereas there now remains due and owing to Said parties of the first part of said original Mortgage debt and interest the Sum of Five Thousand one hundred and forty eight Dollars and twenty two cents over and above said amount assigned to Said Martin and Green which said parties of the second part hereto have agreed to purchase Now this Indenture witnesseth that for and in consideration of the above recited premises and of the sum of Five Thousand one hundred and forty eight Dollars and twenty two cents by the said parties of the second part to the said parties of the first part in hand paid at or before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged the Said Edward G. Sturgeon James Murray and Henry R. Hazlehurst have bargained and sold Conveyed assigned and transferred and by these presents do bargain and Sell Convey assign and transfer unto the Said William H Ross Charles Wright and William W. Dulany their executors administrators and assigns. All their right title interest and estate in and to the Steamboat Kent aforesaid with her appurtenances and the balance of the Mortgage debt aforesaid and all their right title interest and estate property claim and demand whatsoever under and by virtue of the above recited Mortgage to them subject however to the aforesaid assignment to Said Hugh Martin and George W. Green. To Have and To Hold the Said Steamboat Kent with her appurtenances and all the rights and privileges of the Said parties of the first part under and by virtue of the aforesaid Mortgage including the balance of the Mortgage debt aforesaid unto and to the use of the Said parties of the Second part their executors administrators and assigns In witness whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto subscribed their named and affixed their Seals on the day and year first above written Sent to William T.
