State of Maryland City of Baltimore Sct
                       On this twenty seventh day of July A. D. 1855 before the subscriber
a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Said City personally appeared
St. George W. Teackle who I am satisfied of my own knowledge is the person who is named
and described as and professing to be the party appointed Attorney in the foregoing Indenture
and acknowledged the Same to be the act and deed of the Farmers and Merchants
steamboat Company of Nanticoke River the party of the first part therein named and
also at the Same time before me personally appeared James Murray and Henry
R. Hazlehurst the grantees therein named and made Oath according to law that
the consideration set forth in Said Mortgage is true and bona fide as therein set
forth                              Acknowledged and Sworn before   W.m H. Hayward

       State of Maryland Baltimore City, Sct.
                               I hereby Certify that William H. Hayward Esquire before whom
the annexed acknowledgments & affidavit were made and who has thereto subscribed
his name was at the time of so doing a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland
in and for the City of Baltimore duly commissioned and Sworn.
                   In Testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and affix the seal of the
(Seal)          superior Court of Baltimore City this 27th day of July A. D. 1855

Received upon the amount of debt within mentioned two hundred and thirty
nine 48/100 dollars Since this Indenture was executed barring a balance of thirteen
hundred dollars to be secured by this Mortgage
                                                                                     Murray & Hazlehurst


William H. Ross            Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following
    √   from   xd              Assignment of Mortgage was received and recorded on the 9th day
James Murray &           of August in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred
Henry R. Hazlehurst      and fifty five to wit:
                                                       This Indenture made this Twenty seventh day of
July Eighteen hundred and fifty five between James Murray and Henry R. Hazlehurst
of the city of Baltimore in the State of Maryland of the first part and William H.
Ross of Sussex County in the state of Delaware of the Second part      Whereas by Indenture
bearing even date herewith but perfected prior hereto The Farmers and Merchants Steamboat
Company of Nanticoke River did assign and Convey by way of Mortgage unto the parties
of the first part hereto the Steamboat called the Kent which was built in Baltimore
in the year eighteen hundred and fifty four and which is enrolled according to law
at the Port of Baltimore as appears by the enrollment thereof dated on the fifth day
of July in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty four and numbered one hundred and fifty
three   Together with her engines and machinery tackle boats apparel and furniture to
secure the payment of the Sum of Fifteen hundred and thirty nine dollars forty eight
