156 for life under the last will and testament of said deceased) upon her distributive share thereof to wit: $4.007:65 cts as stated in the final administration account passed in the orphans court for Baltimore County And Whereas for the purpose of effectually securing the payment of the Said Sum of one thousand five hundred and twenty one dollars and forty two Cents to the Said Susan A. Green as residuary legatee aforesaid or to such other person or persons as may be legally entitled thereto under the provisions of the last will and Testament of the said deceased the Said Septimus Thompson and Lydia A. Thompson his wife have agreed to execute this instrument. Now this Indenture witnesseth that in Consideration of the premises and of the sum of five dollars lawful money to the parties hereto of the first part in hand paid by the Said Susan A. Green the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the Said Septimus Thompson and Sarah Lydia Thompson his wife have bargained and Sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell assign transfer and make over unto the said Susan A. Greene her executors administrators and assigns one negro man Jack, slave for life aged about twenty Six years " " girl Lucy ditto " " ditto " twenty two ditto " " woman Eliza ditto " " ditto " fifty ditto one negro girl Betsey Slave for life aged about ten years " ditto Mary ditto ditto forty five ditto " ditto Mariah ditto ditto thirteen ditto " ditto Mary ditto ditto twelve ditto " negro boy George ditto ditto eight ditto " ditto Saul ditto ditto Six ditto (all of which above named Slaves were Conveyed by Susan A. Greene and Septimus Thompson above named administrators C. T. A. of Said Nathaniel E. Greene deceased to the Said Sarah Lydia Thompson by Bill of Sale bearing even date herewith but perfected before the Execution hereof and recorded or intended to be recorded among the Chattel records of Dorchester County aforesaid) And also all the Stock, farming utensils and chattels personal of every kind and description inclusive of the household and kitchen furniture now Contained Situate and being in and about the farm or tract of land and premises upon which the Said parties hereto of the first part now reside in Dorchester County aforesaid To Have and To Hold the said described Slaves and Chattel property unto the Said Susan A. Greene her Executors administrators and assigns forever. And the said Septimus Thompson and Sarah Lydia Thompson for themselves their heirs executors and administrators the Said slaves and Chattel property unto the Said Susan A. Greene her executors administrators and assigns against eh said parties hereto of the first part their Executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. Provided nevertheless and it is the true intent and meaning of these presents and of the parties hereto that in Case the Said parties hereto of the first part their Executors or administrators shall within one year from the date of these presents well and truly pay or Cause to be paid unto the Said Susan A. Greene or her assigns as residuary legatee aforesaid or to such other person or persons as may be legally entitled thereto under the provisions of the last will and Testament of Said Nathaniel E. Greene deceased (which will bears date the 8th day of April 1850 and is of record in the office of the register of wills for Baltimore County in Liber D. M. P. No. 23 folio 413 &c) the aforesaid Sum of fifteen hundred and twenty one dollars and forty two Cents with legal interest thereon in the meantime semiannually then this Mortgage and every matter and thing herein expressed shall be null and void In witness whereof the said |
