139 man Jacob a slave to serve until the twenty sixth day of July in the year Eighteen hundred and sixty five the said negro man Jacob having by the will of Thomas Jones been left to serve at and for the full end and term of twelve years from the death of him the said Thomas ^O^ Jones viz from the 26th day of July in the year 1853. To Have and To Hold the said negro man Jacob above bargained and sold at and for the term aforesaid to the said James A. Stewart his heirs Executors, administrators and assigns In Testimony whereof the parties hereto have hereunto set their Hands and seals this 18th day of November Eighteen hundred and fifty four Signed sealed and delivered Mary Jones (seal) in presence of James A. Stewart (seal) W.m D. Barrow State of Maryland Dorchester County ss Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this 18th day of November 1854 before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for the county of Dorchester aforesaid personally appeared Mary Jones administratrix of Thomas H. Jones and James A. Stewart they being to me known to be the persons who are named and described as and professing to be the parties to the foregoing Bill of Sale and do severally acknowledge the said Bill of Sale to be their act and Deed for the uses and purposes therein named at the same time and place appeared the said James A. Stewart grantee in said Bill of Sale mentioned and made Oath that the consideration set forth in the said Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth In Testimony whereof I have hereunto Subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid W.m D. Barrow Received November 29th 1854 of James A. Stewart the sum of one Dollar in lieu of a Stamp on this Bill of Sale F. J. Henry clk Amanda Fraley Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following Bill of Sale was √ from xd received and recorded on the 4th day of December 1854 To wit: John C. Fraley Know all men by these presents that I John C. Fraley of the county of Dorchester in the state of Maryland for and in consideration of the love and affection I bear to my wife Amanda Fraley and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and four dollars which was the distributive share or legacy to my said wife from her grandfather and which I received and for the better securing to me in hand paid by my said wife the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Have granted bargained sold aliened and & by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Amanda Fraley All my household stuff implements and furniture, consisting among others of four beds three bedsteads ½ doz. Chairs, one side board with writing desk two Carpets and one settee which was a present to her and since our marriage and all & singular my crockery household furniture & cooking and kitchen utensils and furniture now in the house in which I reside at cabin creek in said county To Have and To Hold all and singular the said goods household stuff and furniture above bargained and sold or mentioned or intended so to be to the said Amanda Fraley her heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th day of November 1854 Signed Sealed and delivered John C.
