12 William Rea Be it Remembered and it is hereby certified that the following Bill of Sale was from received and recorded on the 5th day of August 1882 to wit: John Newton Maryland Dorchester County Sct: Know all men by these presents that I John Newton of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the Sum of Three hundred and seventy five dollars current money to me in hand paid by William Rea of the same County and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said John Newton do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell, unto the said William Rea, his executors, administrators and assigns my negro boy George, who was born on the 28th day of December eighteen hundred and thirty nine, being of the age of thirteen years, next December until he attains the age of Forty four years after which I do hereby declare the said negro boy George from thenceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of Service or Servitude to me, my Executors or administrators forever, To Have and To Hold the said negro boy George for the term of thirty one years from the 28th of December next as aforesaid as above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said William Rea his executors administrators and assigns forever; and I John Newton for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the said negro boy George for the term aforesaid unto the said William Rea his executors administrators and assigns against me the said John Newton my Executors administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, Shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In testimony whereof the said John Newton seller and William Rea purchaser have hereto set their hands and affixed their seals this fifth day of August eighteen hundred fifty two Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of John Newton (Seal) Charles Corkran Alex. H. Todd William Rea (Seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: On the 5th day of August in the year of our Lord 1852 then came before me the undersigned a Justice of the peace in and for said County John Newton Seller and William Rea purchaser and acknowledged the above Bill of Sale and manumission to be their act and deed according to the true intent and meaning of the same and further certify that I am satisfied of their identity as being the same the parties named above as purchaser and seller and at the same time Came William Rea party purchaser within mentioned and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the condition set forth in this Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth according to the meaning of the acts of Assembly Acknowledged and Sworn before Charles Corkran Received August 5th 1852 of William Rea the sum of one dollar in lieu of a stamp on this Bill of Sale Francis J. Robertson Know all men by these presents that I Perry H. Robinson of Dorchester County, in the State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of one hundred and eighty dollars current money to me in hand paid by William D. Noble of Dorchester County and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof I the said Perry H. Robertson do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, unto the said William D. Noble, his executors administrators |
