117 Pattison Levi D. Traverse & Samuel A. Tall of Dorchester County are held and firmly bound unto the state of Maryland in the full and just sum of Three hundred dollars current money of the united States to be paid to the said State or its certain attorney to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our heirs Executors and administrators in the whole and for the whole jointly and Severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated the fifth day of May in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty four. Whereas the county commissioners for Dorchester county by virtue of a supplement to the act entitled an additional supplement to an act to regulate ferries have contracted with the said Jeremiah L. Pattison Levi D. Traverse & Samuel A. Tall to Keep the ferry over Slaughter Creek for from the main to where Henry Travers formerly lived and agree to allow the said Jeremiah L Pattison Levi D. Travers at the rate of four hundred Dollars per annum current Money for the same. Now the condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden Jeremiah L. Pattison Levi D. Traverse Shall faithfully and diligently keep the said ferry over Slaughter Creek from the main to where Henry Travers formerly lived from day light to day light from the first day of November to the first day of March and from an hour before to an hour after day light for the residue of the year Commencing from the tenth day of May 1854 and ending whenever the Bridge over the said Creek is done & received thereafter and Shall Keep Constantly and in good order a Scow that will Safely Carry four passangers and their horses at one trip with two able bodied Skillful hands to attend the said ferry and shall not Charge or receive any greater price for ferriage than what is allowed by law then the above obligation to be void otherwise of force and virtue in law Jere L. Travers (seal) in the presence of Samuel A Tall (seal) James Smith By the county commissioners for Dorchester county May 18 1854 The within Bond Examined & approved By order W.m Rea clerk State of Maryland Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bond √ from xd was received and recorded on the 25.th day day May to wit: William H. Mills Know all men by these presents That we William H. Mills James B. Mills and John R. Dunnock of Dorchester county are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum of Three hundred dollars current money of the united states to be paid to the said State or its certain attorney to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our heirs Executors and administrators in the whole and for the whole jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this Sixth day of May 1854 Whereas the commissioners for Dorchester county by virtue of a supplement to the act entitled an additional supplement to the act entitled an act to regulate ferries have contracted with the said William H. Mills to keep the ferry over fishing creek from Meekins Neck to Hoopers Island and agree to allow said William H. Mills the sum of Two Hundred Dollars Current Money for the same. Now the condition of the above obligation is Such that if the above bounden William H. Mills shall faithfully and diligently keep the said ferry over fishing creek from Meekins Neck to Hoopers Island from day light to day light from the first day of November to the first day of March and from an hour before to an hour after |
