Mister of Dorchester County state aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged:  Have granted bargained and sold and by these presents Do
grant bargain and sell unto the said George Mister his Executors Administrators and Assigns My
negro Girl named Emely a Slave for life To Have and To Hold the said described negro Girl named
Emely to the said George Mister his Executors Administrators and Assigns forever; and I the said Augustus
W. Creighton for myself my Heirs Executors and administrators the said negro Girl Emily unto the
said George Mister his Executors Administrators and Assigns against me the said Augustus W
Creighton my Executors ^and^ Administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever
shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.

             In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and seal this first day of April Eighteen
hundred and fifty four
    Signed Sealed and delivered                                                Augustus W. Creighton   (seal)

                               A. H. Pennington

City of Baltimore ss.            Be it Remembered That on this first day of April 1854 before the
subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said city appears Augustus W. Creighton party grantor and
acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and
meaning thereof                              Acknowledged Before me

State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit:
                   On this Seventeenth day of May 1854 before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace
of the state of Maryland in and for Dorchester County aforesaid personally appeared George
Mister party grantee named in the within Bill of Sale and made Oath on the Holy
Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration mentioned therein is bona fide true as is therein
set forth                                                      Sworn to Before               D. W. Tyler J. P.



State of Maryland           Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bond was received
       √   from   xd            and recorded on the 25th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
Washington A. Smith      hundred and fifty four to wit:

                                       (Cents)   Know all men by these presents That we Washington A. Smith Thomas
J. Simmons John Tubman of Dorchester County are full and firmly bound unto the state of Maryland in the full
and Just Sum of Three hundred dollars current money of the united states to be paid to the said State or its certain
attorney to the which paid well and truly to be made and done.  We bind ourselves our heirs Executors and administrators
in the whole and for the whole jointly and severally firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals and dated
this Fifth day of May 1854 Whereas the County Commissioners for Dorchester County by virtue of a supplement
to the act Entitled an additional supplement to the act to regulate ferries have contracted with the said
Washington A. Smith & Thos J. Simmons to keep the ferry over Slaughter Creek from Taylors Island to
Meekin's Neck and agree to allow the said Washington A. Smith & Thomas J. Simmons ^the sum of five Hundred Dollars current money for the same.  Now the condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden Washington A Smith & Thomas J. Simmons^ Shall faithfully and
diligently keep the said ferry over Slaughter Creek from Taylors Island to Meekins Neck from day light to day
light from the first of November to the first of March and from an hour before to an hour after day light for the
residue of the year commencing the tenth of May 1854 and ending twelve months thereafter and shall Keep Constantly
