page 102 of the printed bill (first reading
file bill), to provide funds for the Best
Buddies grant. Funding is being
transferred from the Department of
Health and Mental Hygiene.

General Fund Appropriation
8. R00A04.01 Local Management Board Fund

To become available immediately upon
passage of this budget to supplement the
appropriation for fiscal year 2004 to
provide funds to the Department of
Juvenile Services for one-time
renovations and security improvements at
DJS facilities, staff training, IT disaster
protection, development of master
facilities plans, and design funds for the
renovation of Gary Hall at the Hickey
School.

Object .12 Grants, Subsidies, and
Contributions

General Fund Appropriation, provided
that $125,000 of this appropriation
may only be expended for training of
direct care staff and supervisors at
detention facilities. Prior to the
expenditure of any funds for training,
the Department of Juvenile Services
shall submit a plan to the budget
committees detailing how the proposed
training complements existing
training requirements through the
Maryland Correctional Training
Commission. The budget committees
shall have 30 days to review and
comment upon the plan.
