Ch. 299                                    2004 LAWS OF MARYLAND

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall be
construed to apply only prospectively and may not be applied or interpreted to have
any effect on or application to an estate of a decedent who dies before October 1, 2004.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2004.

AN ACT concerning

Criminal Injuries Compensation Fund - Extension of Time to File Claim

FOR the purpose of altering the time for filing a claim for criminal injuries
compensation with the Board of Criminal Injuries Compensation under certain
circumstances; altering the time for filing a claim with the Board in a case of
child abuse; and generally relating to compensation for criminal injuries.

BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,

Section 11-801(a), (b), and (c) and 11-810(a)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(2001 Volume and 2003 Supplement)

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Criminal Procedure

11-801.

(a)     In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.

(b)     "Board" means the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board.

(c)     "Claimant" means the person filing a claim under this subtitle.
11-809.

(a)     (1) A claimant shall file a claim not later than:
