A POLITICAL COMMITTEE MAY AWARD A PRIZE OF MERCHANDISE OR MONEY AT
A FUNDRAISER THAT DOES NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT OTHERWISE ALLOWED FOR A
PRIZE IN BALTIMORE CITY. REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 27, § 261C. In subsection (a) of this section, the reference to a "political committee" is
substituted for the former reference to a "politically partisan organization"
for consistency with current usage in Article 33 of the Code. Similarly, in
subsection (b) of this section, the reference to a "political committee" is
added for clarity. Also in subsection (a) of this section, the former reference to a "bona fide"
political organization is deleted as surplusage. Also in subsection (a) of this section, the former phrase "by such devices
commonly known as" is deleted as surplusage. Also in subsection (a) of this section, the reference to "this title or Title 12
of this article" is substituted for the former reference to this "article" to
reflect the reorganization of material relating to gambling and gaming
derived from former Article 27 in this revision. 13-507. BINGO — IN GENERAL. (A) SCOPE OF SECTION AND § 13-509. THIS SECTION AND § 13-509 OF THIS SUBTITLE ALSO APPLY TO GAMES OF
INSTANT BINGO. IB) PERMIT REQUIRED. BEFORE AN ORGANIZATION LISTED IN SUBSECTION (C) OR (D) OF THIS SECTION
MAY CONDUCT BINGO IN BALTIMORE CITY, THE ORGANIZATION SHALL OBTAIN A
PERMIT TO DO SO FROM THE COMMISSIONER (C) QUALIFIED ORGANIZATIONS. AN ORGANIZATION THAT MEETS THE CONDITIONS OF SUBSECTION (H)(1) OF
THIS SECTION MAY CONDUCT BINGO IN BALTIMORE CITY IF THE ORGANIZATION IS A
BONA FIDE: (1) RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION; (2) FRATERNAL ORGANIZATION; (3) PATRIOTIC ORGANIZATION; (4) EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION; OR (5) CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION. (D) SAME — ALTERNATIVE QUALIFICATIONS.
