(V) 1 SHALL BE A VETERAN OF THE PERSIAN GULF WAR APPOINTED
FROM THE STATE AT LARGE.
(b) Each member must be a resident of the State and a veteran whose final
separation from active service with a uniformed service of the United States was
under honorable conditions.
(c) (1) The term of an appointed member is 7 years.
(2) The terms of the appointed members are staggered as required by the
terms provided for members of the Commission on October 1, 1984.
(3) At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is
appointed and qualifies.
(4) A member who is appointed after a term has begun serves only for
the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies:

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2002.
