AN ACT concerning
Local Correctional Facilities - Inmate Transfers
FOR the purpose of authorizing the sheriff of a county or the governing body of a
county or municipal corporation that operates a local correctional facility to
enter into certain agreements with other county sheriffs or counties or municipal
corporations to authorize the transfer of certain inmates between certain local
correctional facilities under certain circumstances; and generally relating to
local correctional facilities.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Correctional Services
9-309.
THE SHERIFF OF A COUNTY OR THE GOVERNING BODY OF A COUNTY OR
MUNICIPAL CORPORATION THAT OPERATES A LOCAL CORRECTIONAL FACILITY MAY
ENTER INTO A SIGNED MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH ANOTHER
SHERIFF, COUNTY, OR MUNICIPAL CORPORATION THAT OPERATES A LOCAL
CORRECTIONAL FACILITY TO AUTHORIZE THE TRANSFER OF INMATES SENTENCED
TO A LOCAL CORRECTIONAL FACILITY UNDER § 9-105 OF THIS TITLE FROM ONE
LOCAL CORRECTIONAL FACILITY TO ANOTHER
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2002.
