(1) Complete a performance evaluation of the College Readiness
Outreach Program that shall evaluate both the outcomes and the effectiveness of the
Program; and
(2) Report to the General Assembly, in accordance with § 2-1246 of the
State Government Article, on the performance evaluation and any recommendations
for increasing the effectiveness of the Program.
SECTION 9. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That it is the intent of the
General Assembly that the Governor include $3 million in the State budget in fiscal
2003 to implement Education Excellence Awards to be made by institutions of higher
education in the State established under § 18-307(d) of the Education Article.
SECTION 10. 5. 6. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That any reference in
the Annotated Code rendered obsolete by this Act shall be corrected by the publisher
of the Annotated Code, in consultation with and subject to the approval of the
Department of Legislative Services, with no further action required by the General
Assembly. The publisher of the Annotated Code shall adequately describe any such
correction in an editor's note following the section affected.
SECTION 11. 6. 7. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 2002.

(Senate Bill 455)
AN ACT concerning
Board of Boiler Rules and State Board of Stationary Engineers Board of
Examining Engineers - Sunset Extension and Program Evaluation
FOR the purpose of continuing the Board of Boiler Rules in accordance with the
provisions of the Maryland Program Evaluation Act (Sunset Law) by extending
to a certain date the termination provisions relating to the statutory and
regulatory authority of the Board of Boiler Rules; adding a certain member to
the Board of Boiler Rules; requiring the Board of Boiler Rules to elect its
chairman from among its members with the advice and consent of the Secretary;
requiring that an evaluation of the Board of Boiler Rules and the statutes and
regulations that relate to the Board of Boiler Rules be performed on or before a
certain date; continuing the Board of Examining Engineers in accordance with
the provisions of the Maryland Program Evaluation Act (Sunset Law) by
extending to a certain date the termination provisions relating to the statutory
and regulatory authority of the Board of Examining Engineers; requiring that
an evaluation of the Board of Examining Engineers and the statutes and
regulations that relate to the Board of Examining Engineers be performed on or
before a certain date; establishing the State Board of Stationary Engineers in
