Ch. 277 2002 LAWS OF MARYLAND
SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, subject to the provisions
of Sections 3 and 4 of this Act, Section 2 of this Act shall take effect January 1, 2003,
contingent on the taking effect of Chapter 291 (S.B. 1) of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 2002. If Section 2 of this Act takes effect, Section 1 of this Act shall be
abrogated and of no further force and effect. SECTION 6. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, subject to the provisions
of Sections 3, 4, and 5 of this Act, this Act shall take effect July 1, 2002. Approved April 25, 2002.
CHAPTER 277
(House Bill 1265) AN ACT concerning State Commission on Public Safety Technology and Critical Infrastructure FOR the purpose of establishing the State Commission on Public Safety Technology
and Critical Infrastructure to ensure that certain communication and
information management systems maintained by certain governmental units
are compatible and interoperable; providing for the membership, terms of office,
chairman, quorum, and meeting times of the Commission; authorizing members
of the Commission to employ a staff and executive director;
providing for the
reimbursement of members of the Commission and reimbursement and
compensation for the executive director
; requiring the Governor's Office of Crime
Control and Prevention to perform certain administrative functions
; requiring
the Commission to make certain recommendations, adopt certain regulations,
propose legislation, and consult and cooperate with certain governmental units;
requiring the Commission to submit a certain report on or before a certain date
to the Governor, certain State units of State government, and the General
Assembly; requiring the Commission to inform on an ongoing basis certain units
of State government whether certain communication and information
management systems comply with applicable standards; defining a certain
term; providing for the termination of this Act; and generally relating to the
State Commission on Public Safety Technology and Critical Infrastructure. BY adding to Article 41 - Governor - Executive and Administrative Departments Section 3-101 through 3-108, inclusive, to be under the new title "Title 3. State
Commission on Public Safety Technology and Critical Infrastructure" Annotated Code of Maryland (1997 Replacement Volume and 2001 Supplement)
