(House Bill 524)
AN ACT concerning
Somerset County - Orphans' Court - Judges' Compensation
FOR the purpose of providing for a certain annual salary of the Chief Judge and each
associate judge of the Orphans' Court for Somerset County; providing for a
certain daily allowance for traveling expenses for certain attendance upon the
sessions of the Court; repealing provisions for certain paid attendance and
certain paid excused absences; providing that this Act does not apply to the
salary or compensation of the incumbent Chief Judge and associate judges of the
Orphans' Court for Somerset County; making technical changes; and generally
relating to judges' compensation in the Orphans' Court for Somerset County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Estates and Trusts
2-108.
(t) (1) THE CHIEF JUDGE OF THE COURT FOR SOMERSET COUNTY SHALL
RECEIVE AN ANNUAL SALARY OF $1,900 TO BE PAID QUARTERLY.
(2) EACH OF THE ASSOCIATE JUDGES OF THE COURT FOR SOMERSET
COUNTY SHALL RECEIVE AN ANNUAL SALARY OF $1,700 TO BE PAID QUARTERLY.
[(1) Each judge of the Court for Somerset County shall receive $34 for
every day's attendance upon the sessions of the Court.]
[(2)] (3) Each judge shall also receive [an] A DAILY allowance for
traveling expenses of [$33] $34.50 for every day's attendance upon the sessions of the
Court.
[(3) Each judge may be excused with pay two times in a calendar year.]
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of the Chief Judge and associate judges of the
Orphans' Court for Somerset County in office on the effective date of this Act, but the
provisions of this Act concerning the salary or compensation of the Chief Judge and
