(House Bill 266)
AN ACT concerning
Calvert County - Economic Development Authority
FOR the purpose of altering the method of appointing members of the Calvert County
Economic Development Authority; requiring the County Commissioners of
Calvert County to determine the number of members and composition of the
Calvert County Economic Development Authority; and generally relating to the
Calvert County Economic Development Authority. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
The Public Local Laws of Calvert County
Section ll-204(a) Article 5 - Public Local Laws of Maryland (1986 Edition and July 1991 Supplement, as amended) (As enacted by Chapter 86 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1994, as
amended by Chapter 50 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1996) SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 5 - Calvert County
11-204.
(a) The authority is a body corporate and politic and is constituted a public
instrumentality of the county. The exercise by the authority of the powers conferred
by the provisions of this subtitle shall be deemed to be the performance of essential
governmental functions. [The authority consists of 9 members, all of whom] ALL
MEMBERS OF THE AUTHORITY shall be registered voters of Calvert County, appointed
for 3 year terms by the county commissioners, subject to the approval of the county
delegation to the General Assembly. THE COMPOSITION AND NUMBER OF MEMBERS
OF THE AUTHORITY SHALL BE DETERMINED BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS. [The
members shall include:
(1) A member of the Board of County Commissioners of Calvert County;
(2) Two representatives from the financial community;
(3) The superintendent of schools or the superintendent's designee;
A designee of the Calvert County Economic Development
(4) Commission;
Two representatives of the local commercial and industrial sectors;
