AN ACT concerning
Criminal Law - Contraband - Thing of Value
FOR the purpose of clarifying that any item, material, substance, or other thing need
not have any particular value to be considered contraband in a correctional
facility; and generally relating to contraband.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Criminal Law
Section 9-410(c)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(As enacted by Chapter 26 (H.B. 11) of the Acts of the General Assembly of 2002)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Criminal Law
9-410.
(c) "Contraband" means any item, material, substance, or other thing [of
value] that:
(1) is not authorized for inmate possession by the managing official; or
(2) is brought into the correctional facility in a manner prohibited by the
managing official.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October 1, 2002.

Criminal Law - Bad Checks - Definition of Service
FOR the purpose of clarifying that, for purposes of certain prohibitions against
making or passing bad checks, "service" includes the use of certain computers,
data processing, or other equipment; and generally relating to bad checks.
