(a)     There is a World War II Memorial Commission.

(b)     The Commission shall:

(1)     Develop a list of citizens of the State who sacrificed their lives or
years of their life for their country during World War II; and

(2)     Meet regularly to develop recommendations to the General Assembly
and the Governor for the design, construction, and placement of a suitable memorial
or monument that would contain the names of those Maryland citizens who served
their country during World War II so that their sacrifice may be permanently and
publicly recorded.

(c)      (1) The Governor shall appoint the members of the Commission.

(2) Each member of the Commission shall be a citizen and a resident of
the State.

(d)     A member of the Commission:

(1)     May not receive compensation; but

(2)     Is entitled to reimbursement for expenses under the Standard State
Travel Regulations as provided in the State budget.

(e)     Staff for the Commission shall be provided by the Maryland Veterans
Commission.

(f)      The Commission shall, subject to § 2-1246 of the State Government
Article:

(1)     Report its initial recommendations to the Governor and the General
Assembly by January 1, 1992; and

(2)     Submit its final report to the Governor and the General Assembly by
September 1, 1992.]
