Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have
vetoed Senate Bill 40 - Election Law - Study Commission on Public Funding of
Campaigns in Maryland — Sunset Extension.

This bill extends the termination and reporting dates for the Study Commission on
Public Funding of Campaigns in Maryland.

House Bill 29, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me,
accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 40.

AN ACT concerning

Election Law - Study Commission on Public Funding of Campaigns in

Maryland - Sunset Extension

FOR the purpose of establishing a new termination date for the Study Commission on
Public Funding of Campaigns in Maryland; altering the date by which the
Commission must report its findings and recommendations, including suggested
legislative changes, to the Governor and the General Assembly; making a
stylistic change; and generally relating to an extension of the sunset for the
Study Commission on Public Funding of Campaigns in Maryland.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Chapter 169 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 2002
Section 1 and 2
