It is the intent of the General Assembly that
all eligible veterans shall he honored for
their service to the State and their
country in accordance with Section 6 of
Article 65, Furthermore the General
Assembly intends to fully fund, at the
level necessary, the expenses associated
with the provision of this benefit to
eligible veterans in recognition of their
service and sacrifice to the State. The
General Assembly is concerned about the
lack of federal participation in these
military burial honors and urges the
federal government to appropriate funds
to cover the expense of honor guards.
Should federal funds become available it
is expected that the Military Department
will use federal funds before using State
general funds to cover these expenses.
