Senate Bill No. 466
AN ACT concerning
Caroline County - Sheriff's Salary - Increase
FOR the purpose of altering the salary of the Sheriff of Caroline County; providing for
the application of this Act; providing for a delayed effective date; and generally
relating to the salary of the Sheriff of Caroline County.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings
Section 2-309(g)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings
2-309.
(g) (1) The Sheriff of Caroline County shall receive an annual salary of
[$45,000 in 1995 and in each subsequent year] $49,500.
(2) The Sheriff may appoint deputy sheriffs and other personnel in
accordance with the County budget.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of the Sheriff of Caroline County in office on the
effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary or
compensation of the Sheriff of Caroline County shall take effect at the beginning of
the next following term of office.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2002.
