Ch. 693 2000 LAWS OF MARYLAND
CHAPTER 693
(House Bill 1339) AN ACT concerning Property and Casualty Insurers - Requests for Data by Commissioner FOR the purpose of authorizing the Insurance Commissioner to request by bulletin
certain data from property insurers and casualty insurers; specifying certain
contents of a request by bulletin; requiring that certain data requested by
bulletin be filed with the Insurance Commissioner in a form required by the
Insurance Commissioner; providing for the expiration of a request by bulletin
after a certain period of time; requiring the Insurance Commissioner to provide
certain notice to an insurer under certain circumstances before granting an
application to inspect certain company-specific data filed by the insurer; and
generally relating to requests for data by the Commissioner from property
insurers and casualty insurers. BY adding to Article - Insurance Section 19-112 Annotated Code of Maryland (1997 Volume and 1999 Supplement) SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: Article - Insurance 19-112. (A) THE COMMISSIONER MAY REQUEST BY BULLETIN FROM A PROPERTY
INSURERS AND CASUALTY INSURERS INSURER, DATA THAT RELATES TO THE
AMOUNT OF PREMIUM POLICIES WRITTEN BY THE INSURER (B) EACH A REQUEST BY BULLETIN UNDER THIS SECTION SHALL SPECIFY: (1) REQUEST DATA ABOUT PREMIUM WRITTEN BY THE INSURER FOR A
SPECIFIC LINE OF INSURANCE THE LINE OF INSURANCE FOR WHICH THE DATA IS
BEING REQUESTED; AND (2) SPECIFY THE PERIOD OF TIME FOR WHICH THE DATA IS REQUESTED. (C) DATA REQUESTED BY BULLETIN UNDER THIS SECTION SHALL BE FILED
WITH THE COMMISSIONER IN A FORM REQUIRED BY THE COMMISSIONER (C) (D) (1) A REQUEST BY BULLETIN EXPIRES 2 YEARS AFTER THE DATE
OF THE REQUEST BY THE COMMISSIONER (2) IF THE COMMISSIONER NEEDS ADDITIONAL DATA AFTER THE END
OF THAT 2-YEAR PERIOD, THE COMMISSIONER SHALL ISSUE ANOTHER BULLETIN.
