Ch. 601 2000 LAWS OF MARYLAND
(2) license fee setting; (3) license issuing procedures; (4) license application procedures; (5) license display requirements; (6) late fee renewal provisions; (7) prorated fee schedules; and (8) other administrative provisions as determined by the
Commissioners. (c) (1) Before keeping, maintaining, or operating a coin operated game for
public entertainment in Carroll County, a person, corporation, or other entity shall
obtain the appropriate license from the Board of County Commissioners. (2) A license issued under this section expires on April 30 in each year,
regardless of date of issuance. (3) A license issued under this section is transferable. (4) License fees collected under this section shall be paid to the County
Commissioners and credited to the general funds of the County. (d) (1) A person, corporation, or other entity who keeps, maintains, or
operates a coin operated game in violation of this section, or in violation of a
regulation issued under this section, is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is
subject to a fine not exceeding $1,000. (2) In addition to the monetary penalty provided in paragraph (1) of this
subsection, a person convicted for violation of this section may be imprisoned in the
Carroll County jail for a term not exceeding 60 days. [7-3.] 6-103. Music boxes and devices. Every person, firm or corporation keeping, maintaining or operating for public
entertainment in Carroll County any music box, mechanical player piano,
graphophone, or other similar mechanical musical device played by the insertion of a
coin or token, shall obtain an annual county license [therefor] from the Clerk of the
Circuit Court of county, and shall pay [therefor] the sum of twenty dollars [($20.00)]
for each [such] machine or device, and the sum of three dollars [($3.00)] additional
for each independent coin-operated speaker delivering music on the same premises.
Each machine or device licensed shall have affixed to it a metal tag issued by the
Clerk, showing that the fee for the current year has been paid. All licenses shall
expire on the thirtieth day of April of each year, shall be transferable, and shall be
prorated monthly. Any person, firm [of], OR corporation keeping, maintaining or
operating any such machine or device without a license, shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor, and upon conviction [thereof], shall be fined one hundred dollars
