AN ACT concerning
Anne Arundel County - Sheriff's Salary - Equal to a Captain of the Police
Department Increase Equal to a Captain of the Police Department
FOR the purpose of altering the salary of the Sheriff of Anne Arundel County to equal
the salary of a captain in the Anne Arundel County Police Department at a
certain rate in the pay scale for certain calendar years to equal the salary of a
captain in the Anne Arundel County Police Department at a certain rate in the
pay scale; providing that this Act does not apply to the salary or compensation of
the incumbent Sheriff; providing for a delayed effective date; making stylistic
changes; providing for a delayed effective date; and generally relating to the
Anne Arundel County Sheriff's salary.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings
2-309.
(c) (1) The Sheriff of Anne Arundel County shall receive a salary of:
(i) $48,700 in calendar year 1998;
(ii) $52,550 in calendar year 1999;
(iii) $54,025 in calendar year 2000;
(iv) $55,540 in calendar year 2001; and
(v) $57,100 in calendar year 2002] EQUAL TO THE SALARY OF A
CAPTAIN IN THE ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT AT THE HIGHEST
RATE IN THE PAY SCALE ;
(VI) $61,100 IN CALENDAR YEAR 2003
