RA03.04 Aid to Non-Public Schools
Special Fund Appropriation, provided that
no portion of this appropriation may be
used for the furtherance of sectarian
religious instruction, or in connection
with any program or department of
divinity for any religious denomination.
Upon the request of the State
Superintendent, a grantee shall submit
evidence satisfactory to the State
Superintendent that none of the grant
funds have been or are being used for a
purpose prohibited by this Act.
Further provided this appropriation shall be
for the purchase of textbooks for students
in nonpublic schools, with a maximum
distribution of $60 per eligible nonpublic
school student for participating schools,
In addition, no funds may be expended
until the Maryland State Department of
Education submits a report to the budget
committees detailing the distribution
methodology, including consideration of
some means based criteria, with 45 days
for review and comment.
Further provided that this appropriation
shall be for the purchase of textbooks for
students in eligible nonpublic schools
with a maximum distribution of $60 per
eligible nonpublic school student for
participating schools, except that at
schools where at least 20% of the students
are eligible for the free or reduced priced
lunch program there shall be a
