(A) IN GENERAL.

THE LEGISLATIVE AUDITOR SHALL CONDUCT AUDITS OF STATE USE
INDUSTRIES IN ACCORDANCE WITH TITLE 2, SUBTITLE 12, PART IV OF THE STATE
GOVERNMENT ARTICLE.

(B) FREQUENCY OF AUDITS.

THE LEGISLATIVE AUDITOR SHALL ADVISE OFFICIALS OF STATE USE
INDUSTRIES OF THE FREQUENCY OF AUDITS TO BE CONDUCTED.

(C) COSTS.

STATE USE INDUSTRIES SHALL BEAR THE COST OF THE FISCAL PORTION OF A
POST AUDIT EXAMINATION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 27, § 681-I(b).

In subsection (a) of this section, the cross-reference to Title 2, Subtitle 12,
Part IV of the State Government Article, which relates to the Office of
Legislative Audits, is added to state expressly that which was only implied
in the former law.

In subsection (b) of this section, the first sentence of former Art. 27, §
681-I(b)(2) is deleted as unnecessary and obsolete in light of SG § 2-1220.
The part of the first sentence of former Art. 27, § 681-I(b)(2) that refers to
a "biennial" audit is obsolete in light of the current 3 year requirement in
SG § 2-1220. The part of the first sentence of former Art. 27, §
681B-I(b)(2) that gives the Legislative Auditor the authority to conduct an
"annual" audit is unnecessary because, under SG § 2-1220, the Legislative
Auditor has the authority to establish any audit schedule so long as an
audit is conducted "at least" once every 3 years. Prior to the enactment of
SG § 2-1220 in 1997, the Legislative Auditor was authorized to conduct
such audits at least once every 2 years. See Chapters 635 and 636, Acts of
1997.

3-511. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT — GOODS AND SERVICES.

THE COMMISSIONER AND GENERAL MANAGER MAY DEVELOP PROGRAMS TO
PROVIDE SERVICES OR PRODUCE GOODS USED BY:

(1) UNITS OF STATE GOVERNMENT;

(2) POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS OF THE STATE;

(3) UNITS OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT;

(4) UNITS OF OTHER STATES; OR

(5) POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS OF OTHER STATES.
