Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 548.

This bill replaces gender specific language in Title 8 of the Real Property Article with
gender neutral language,

House Bill 260, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on April
27, 1999, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign
Senate Bill 548.

FOR the purpose of inserting gender neutral language in Title 8 of the Real Property
Article; making stylistic changes; and generally relating to Title 8 of the Real
Property Article.
