SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Business Occupations and Professions

5-702.

Subject to the evaluation and reestablishment provisions of the Maryland
Program Evaluation Act, this title and all regulations adopted under this title shall
terminate and be of no effect after [July 1, 2001] JULY 1, 2011.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1999.

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 219.

This bill extends the sunset date for the State Board of Waterworks and Waste
Systems Operators from July 1, 2001 to July 1, 2011.

House Bill 455, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on April
27, 1999, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign
Senate Bill 219.
