Cosmetologists, in consultation with the State Board of Physician Quality
Assurance, to prohibit or restrict the use or possession of certain equipment,
substances, and products that may be used in beauty salons if the Board State
Board of Cosmetologists determines that the equipment, substance, or product
is hazardous to the health and welfare of customers; authorizing the State
Board of Cosmetologists to adopt certain regulations; and generally relating to
the powers of the State Board of Cosmetologists.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Business Occupations and Professions
5-207.
(a) In addition to any powers set forth elsewhere, the Board may:
(1) administer oaths; AND AND
(2) PROHIBIT OR RESTRICT THE USE OR POSSESSION OF CERTAIN
EQUIPMENT, SUBSTANCES, AND PRODUCTS THAT MAY BE USED IN BEAUTY SALONS
IF THE BOARD DETERMINES THAT THE EQUIPMENT, SUBSTANCE, OR PRODUCT IS
HAZARDOUS TO THE HEALTH AND WELFARE OF CUSTOMERS
(2) IN CONSULTATION WITH THE BOARD OF PHYSICIAN QUALITY
ASSURANCE; PROHIBIT OR RESTRICT THE USE OR POSSESSION OF:
(I) LASERS IN BEAUTY SALONS; AND
(II) CERTAIN EQUIPMENT, SUBSTANCES, AND PRODUCTS THAT
MAY BE USED IN BEAUTY SALONS IF THE STATE BOARD OF COSMETOLOGISTS
DETERMINES THAT THE EQUIPMENT. SUBSTANCE, OR PRODUCT IS HAZARDOUS TO
THE HEALTH AND WELFARE OF CUSTOMERS; AND
(3) ADOPT REGULATIONS TO IMPLEMENT ITEM (2) OF THIS SUBSECTION.
(b) In addition to any duties set forth elsewhere, the Board shall:
(1) adopt a seal;
(2) keep a record of its proceedings;
(3) keep records at its principal office; and
(4) provide copies of its regulations to persons regulated by the Board.
