of State Police to notify firearms dealers

within seven days from its receipt of a

|

firearm application if the applicant has
|
|
|
|
not been approved; (2) implementation of
|
|
|
|
management procedures and policies to
|
|
|
|
ensure that the appropriate investigation
|
|
|
|
of firearm applicants is conducted in a
|
|
|
|
timely fashion; and (3) implementation of
|
|
|
|
management procedures and policies to
|
|
|
|
ensure that firearms are not sold to
|
|
|
|
individuals prohibited from purchasing
|
|
|
|
firearms under the provisions of Article
|
|
|
|
27, § 442 of the Code.
|
|
|
|
The Department shall submit the report by
|
|
|
|
June 1, 1999. The budget committees and
|
|
|
|
the Senate Judicial Proceedings
|
|
|
|
Committee and the House Judiciary
|
|
|
|
Committee shall have 45 days from the
|
|
|
|
receipt of the report for review and
|
|
|
|
comment.
|
|
|
|
Further provided that the Department of
|
|
|
|
Legislative Services, Office of Legislative
|
|
|
|
Audits shall conduct an audit of firearms
|
|
|
|
applications processed by the Department
|
|
|
|
of State Police and prepare a report of its
|
|
|
|
findings by October 1, 1999 to determine if
|
|
|
|
the Department of State Police is
|
|
|
|
complying with the State's firearms
