deputies may not be employed by the Sheriff's office. However, the Sheriff may appoint as
part-time deputies persons employed in specific plants, institutions, colleges, and
hospitals situated within Baltimore County who are limited to service only within the
particular facility where they are employed, and who may not be compensated by
Baltimore County for their services.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of the Sheriff of Baltimore County in office on the
effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary or
compensation of the Sheriff of Baltimore County shall take effect at the beginning of the
next following term of office.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1997.

AN ACT concerning
Baltimore County - State's Attorney - Salary and Appointment of Deputy and Assistant
State's Attorneys
FOR the purpose of repealing the maximum salary limit on the salaries of the deputy
State's Attorneys in Baltimore County; requiring the State's Attorney of Baltimore
County to set the salaries of the deputy State's Attorneys; repealing the number and
full-time status designations of the assistant State's Attorneys in Baltimore County;
authorizing the State's Attorney of Baltimore County to appoint assistant State's
Attorneys as authorized by the County Executive of Baltimore County; repealing
the maximum salary limit on the salaries of the assistant State's Attorneys; requiring
the State's Attorney to set the salaries of the assistant State's Attorneys; and
generally relating to the salary and appointment of the deputy and assistant State's
Attorneys in Baltimore County.
