The Honorable Casper R. Taylor, Jr.
Speaker of the House
State House
Annapolis MD 21401
Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed House Bill 305.
This bill increases the number of circuit court judges by adding one additional judge to
the judicial circuits of Anne Arundel, Montgomery, and Prince George's counties
effective July 1, 1997, and by adding one additional judge to the Baltimore County circuit
effective January 1, 1998. In addition, the bill increases the number of District Court
judges by adding one judge each for District 5 and District 8 effective July 1, 1997.
Senate Bill 219, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 8,
1997, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House
Bill 305.
Sincerely,
- 4723 -
