May 22, 1997

The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis MD 21401

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 767.

This bill amends the Ward Brothers Homeplace Loan of 1994 by altering how the
proceeds of the grant may be used to include acquisition of land and other real property
for the Ward Brothers Homeplace.

House Bill 392, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on April 29,
1997, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 767.

Sincerely,

Parris N. Glendening

Governor
