THE UTILIZATION OF HEALTH INSURANCE BENEFITS PROVIDED UNDER THIS
SECTION FOR SERVICES RENDERED BY A CERTIFIED NURSE PRACTITIONER IS
SUBJECT TO REVIEW BY A PEER REVIEW COMMITTEE APPOINTED BY THE STATE
BOARD OF NURSING.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 48A, §§ 354S, 470-O, and 477T.

In subsections (b) and (c) of this section, the former phrases "[a]fter July 1,
1980" are deleted as obsolete.

Also in subsections (b) and (c) of this section, the former references to
"modify[ing]" or "alter[ing]" a policy are deleted as included in the references
to "amend[ing]" a policy.

Also in subsections (b) and (c) of this section, the former references to "care"
and "treatment" rendered by a certified nurse practitioner are deleted as
included in the references to "services".

In subsection (b) of this section, the reference to an "individual, group, or
blanket" health insurance policy is added for clarity. Consequently, the former
references to a "health" insurer and a "group or blanket health" insurer are
deleted as unnecessary in light of the reference to insurers that issue, renew,
amend, or reissue "an individual, group, or blanket health insurance policy".

In subsections (c) and (d) of this section, the references to a "nonprofit health
service plan" are substituted for the former references to a "nonprofit health
insurer" for clarity and consistency with the terminology used throughout this
article.

In subsection (d) of this section, the reference to a "certified" nurse
practitioner is added for consistency within this section.

Also in subsection (d) of this section, the former references to a "health"
insurer and a "group or blanket health" insurer are deleted as unnecessary in
light of the reference to an insurer limiting "the coverage offered under this
section" and subsection (b) of this section.

In subsection (e) of this section, the reference to health insurance benefits
"provided under this section for services rendered" by a certified nurse
practitioner is added for clarity. Consequently, the former references to
"nonprofit" health insurance benefits and "group or blanket" health insurance
benefits are deleted as unnecessary in light of the reference to health
insurance benefits "provided under this section".
