be equivalent to the number of months of
in-state care provided through the Local
Management Boards during fiscal 1997 to
each prior year returnee multiplied by the
average monthly cost of maintaining the
child in the out-of-state placement.
36.01.02.08 Assistance to State for Educating
Students With Disabilities
Federal Fund Appropriation, provided that
the Maryland State Department of
Education shall use up to $53,000 of this
appropriation in fiscal 1997 to implement
an agreement among the Maryland School
for the Deaf, Montgomery County Public
Schools, and the Maryland State
Department of Education to establish a
pilot project that will provide round-trip
transportation of students. Students mil be
transported from locations in Montgomery
County to and from the Frederick campus of
the Maryland School for the Deaf within the
State resources allocated for this project.
Among other elements of the agreement,
there will be a study conducted to determine
the practicality and feasibility of continuing
the service in the future The study will also
include considerations of other
administrative options to implement this
service: cost savings that may be achieved
and redirected to support the continuation
of the service in the future; the effect this
service has on participating students, their
families, and their programs; and the
implications for other local school systems.
The Maryland State Department of
Education shall provide a report to the
General Assembly on the findings of the
study, after the study has been completed... 60,900,688
