ADOPTION OF A REVISION

OF PRESTON TOWN CHARTER

Whereas, the Commissioners of Preston wish to revise the Preston Town Charter for the
purpose of updating and improving the existing charter and,

Whereas, repealing the current Charter and replacing it by adopting the new Charter it
will be enacted in accordance with Article XI-E of the Constitution of Maryland and any
additional requirements in the current Charter and,

Whereas, be it enacted pursuant to Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition, as amended), titled "Corporations-Municipal," repeals the Charter of the
Town of Preston as it now exists, as found in Volume 4 of the Municipal Charters of
Maryland, 1983 addition, 1988 supplement and as previously found in the Code of
Caroline County and subsequently amended, consisting of Sections 307 through 402
inclusive and establishes a new Charter for the municipal corporation know as the Town
of Preston consisting of eleven (11) new Articles to stand in place of the Charter so
repealed.
