1996 LAWS OF MARYLAND

County Task Force for the Study of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning
Commission; specifying the membership of and the appointment process for the Task
Force;
and generally relating to certain managerial positions under the Prince
George's County Planning Board.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 28 - Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission

Section 7-111(c)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1993 Replacement Volume and 1995 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF.
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 28 - Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission

7-111.

(c) (1) Each planning board shall have administrative control and jurisdiction
over personnel performing the duties and functions assigned in this section to the
respective planning boards.

(2) (i) IN THIS PARAGRAPH, "DEPUTY DIRECTOR" INCLUDES ANY
POSITION COMPARABLE TO THE POSITION OF A DEPUTY DIRECTOR, AS
DETERMINED BY THE PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY PLANNING BOARD.

(II) In Prince George's County, a director OR DEPUTY DIRECTOR of a
department shall have education or professional experience in a field relevant to the
responsibilities of that department.

[(ii)](III) A director OR DEPUTY DIRECTOR shall receive the
compensation established in the budget for the Prince George's County planning board.

[ (iii)] (IV) 1. Except as provided in item 2 of this subparagraph, a
director [ serves] OR DEPUTY DIRECTOR SHALL BE APPOINTED BY AND SERVE at the
pleasure of the Prince George's County planning board.

2. In Prince George's County, [ a person who, on June 30, 1991,
is a director of planning or a director of Parks and Recreation] AN INDIVIDUAL, may
elect to remain in the merit system established under § 2-112 of this article IF:

A.      ON JUNE 30, 1991, THE. INDIVIDUAL IS A DIRECTOR OF
PLANNING OR A DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION; OR

B.       ON JUNE 30, 1996, THE INDIVIDUAL IS A DEPUTY
DIRECTOR OF PLANNING OR A DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED. That:

(a) (1) There is a Prince George's County Task Force for the Study of the
Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
