(2) The subcommittee membership may include Council members, officials
of other State agencies, local government officials, representatives of voluntary social
welfare agencies, and other persons with particular expertise in, or who are involved in
activities reflecting the concerns of, the Department's programs.]

Article 83A - Department of Business and Economic Development

[Subtitle 5. Advisory Commission on Sports.]

In this subtitle only, "Commission" means the Advisory Commission on Sports.]

There is an Advisory Commission on Sports within the Department.]
[4-503.

(a)     (1) The Commission consists of 17 members appointed by the Governor in
consultation with the Secretary.

(2) Of the 17 Commission members:

(i) 6 shall be representatives of amateur and professional sports in the
State;

(ii) 3 shall be representatives of State and local government;

(iii) 4 shall be representatives of the general public;

(iv) 2 shall be members of the House of Delegates, selected by the
Speaker of the House; and

(v) 2 shall be members of the Senate of Maryland, selected by the
President of the Senate.

(b)     (1) The term of a member is 3 years.

(2)     The terms of the members are staggered as required by the terms of the
members of the Commission on July 1, 1988.

(3)     At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is
appointed and qualifies.

(4)     A member who is appointed after a term has begun serves only for the
rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.

(c)     (1) The Commission may appoint, from within or without its members, such
subcommittees as the Commission deems appropriate to carry out the Commission's
duties under this subtitle.

(2) The subcommittee members shall serve at the pleasure of the
Commission.]
