(c) (3) The public schools shall devote a part of the day to appropriate exercises
for the following days:

(v) Martin Luther King, JR. Day;

7-301.

(a) (3) Except as provided in subsection (f) of this section or in regulations of
the State Board of Education, each child who resides in this State shall attend a
kindergarten program regularly during the school year prior to entering the first grade
unless the child is otherwise receiving regular, thorough instruction in the skills and
studies usually taught in a kindergarten program of a public school.

Error: Language was stricken from the italicized version of the section, which
does not become effective until July 1, 1997. An incorrect reason for the
striking was given in the Drafter's Note in § 7-301(a)(3) of the Education
Article.

(c) (2) In Allegany County, school buses may be used to transport students to or
from school for longer than 1 hour or over a distance of more than 45 miles if the student
participates in:

(ii) Education of handicapped children programs under the federal
Individuals with Disabilities EDUCATION Act; or

(i) (1) In this subsection "community college" includes the Carroll County
[branch campus of the Catonsville] Community College and the Calvert County and St.
Mary's County branch campuses of Charles County Community College established under
the authority granted by § 16-203(1) of this title, and does not include the Baltimore City
Community College.
