1996 LAWS OF MARYLAND

(2)     have at least 2 years of practical experience in interior design that is
satisfactory to the Board;

(3)     except as otherwise provided in this subtitle, pass or have passed the
National Council of Interior Design Qualification Examination, or its equivalent, as
determined by the Board; and

(4)     at the time of certification, meet any other standard or requirement by
the National Council of Interior Design Qualification, the Foundation for Interior Design
Education Research, or an equivalent institution, as determined by the Board.]

(D) THE APPLICANT SHALL:

(1)     FILE AN APPLICATION AND PAY AN APPLICATION FEE IN
ACCORDANCE WITH § 8-303 OF THIS SUBTITLE;

(2)     HAVE SATISFIED ELIGIBILITY EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS WITH REGARD TO THE APPROPRIATE EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE
NECESSARY TO QUALIFY FOR THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF INTERIOR
DESIGN QUALIFICATION EXAMINATION, OR ITS EQUIVALENT, AS DETERMINED BY
THE BOARD; AND

(3)     HAVE PASSED THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF INTERIOR DESIGN
QUALIFICATION EXAMINATION, OR ITS EQUIVALENT.

8-309.

(a) [ Within 1 year after expiration, the] THE Board shall reinstate the certificate
of an interior designer who has failed to renew the certificate for any reason if the interior
designer:

(1)     meets the renewal requirements, including payment of a renewal fee,
under § 8-307 of this subtitle;

(2)     pays to the Board the reinstatement fee as set by the Board; [ and]

(3)     submits to the Board a reinstatement application on the form that the
Board provides; AND

(4)     EARNS TWO CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS IN COURSES
APPROVED BY THE BOARD IN A 2-YEAR PERIOD IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE
REQUEST FOR REINSTATEMENT.

(b) The Board may extend the reinstatement period for an interior designer if the
interior designer shows good cause for the extension.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1996.
