AN ACT concerning

State Board of Certified Interior Designers - Certification

FOR the purpose of altering the eligibility requirements concerning the education and
experience to qualify for the National Council of Interior Design Qualification
Examination for certification under the Maryland Certified Interior Designers Act;
altering certain reinstatement requirements to allow for reinstatement of
certification at any time provided that the certificate holder completes two
continuing education units in courses that the Board approves; and generally
relating to certification of interior designers.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Business Occupations and Professions

8-302.

(a)     To qualify for a certificate, an applicant shall be an individual who meets the
requirements of this section.

(b)     The applicant shall be of good character and reputation.

(c)     The applicant shall be at least 18 years old.

[ (d) The applicant shall:

(1) have completed a 4-year course of study in interior design at and be
graduated from a college or school of interior design that:

(i) is approved by the Board; and

(ii) holds accredited status from the Foundation for Interior Design
Education Research or its equivalent, as determined by the Board; and
