GENERAL REVISOR'S NOTE TO SUBTITLE:

Former Art. 48A, § 250, which provided that each domestic insurer had the powers
under and was subject to Title 6, Subtitle 5 of the Corporations and Associations Article,
is deleted as unnecessary because the provisions of former Title 6, Subtitle 5 of the
Corporations and Associations Article are recodified in this subtitle.

Former CA § 6-501, which defined "Commissioner", "mutual insurer", and "stock
insurer", is deleted as unnecessary because definitions to the same effect appear in §
1-101 of this article.

Former CA § 6-502, which provided that a word used in former Title 6, Subtitle 5 of
the Corporations and Associations Article has the same meaning as in Art. 48A of the
Code, is deleted as unnecessary given that the former subtitle has been recodified in this
subtitle.

SUBTITLE 3. SURPLUS LINES INSURANCE.

3-301. "QUALIFIED SURPLUS LINES BROKER" DEFINED.

"QUALIFIED SURPLUS LINES BROKER" MEANS A PERSON THAT HAS OBTAINED
A CERTIFICATE OF QUALIFICATION FROM THE COMMISSIONER TO ACT AS A
SURPLUS LINES BROKER UNDER THIS SUBTITLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language added to avoid repetition of
phrases such as "surplus lines broker who has obtained a certificate of
qualification to act as a surplus lines broker".
