PARRIS N. GLENDENING, Governor

Ch. 36

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 48A, § 272.

Throughout this section, the defined term "mutual insurer" is substituted for
the former references to a "mutual insurance company" to use the defined
term.

In subsections (a)(2), (b)(1)(ii) and (iii), (3)(ii)2, and (6), (c), (d)(4)(i) and
(ii), (f)(1), (2), (4), (5), and (6), and (h)(3)(ii) and (4) of this section, the
references to a "successor" mutual insurer are substituted for the former
references to the "surviving company", the "continuing company", the
"surviving company or a new company", the "new company", and the
"surviving or consolidated insurer" for consistency and to conform to language
used in the Corporations and Associations Article.

In subsection (b)(1) of this section, the reference to a mutual insurer
consolidating or merging "to form a domestic mutual insurer" is added for
clarity.

In subsection (b)(3)(i) and (ii)1 of this section, the references to "each"
mutual insurer are added for clarity.

In subsection (b)(3)(ii)2 of this section, the reference to the "successor"
mutual insurer is added for clarity.

In subsection (b)(4)(i) of this section, the reference to executing the
agreement "in duplicate original" is added for clarity and to conform to
subsection (b)(6) of this section.

In subsection (b)(6) of this section, the former phrase "in his office" is deleted
as surplusage.

In subsection (d)(3) of this section, the term "insurance supervisory official" is
substituted for the former reference to "the official having supervision over
the business of insurance" for brevity and to conform to terminology used in
other parts of this article. Similarly, in subsection (e)(1)(ii) of this section, the
reference to "supervisory" official is substituted for the former reference to
"supervising" official.
