under the provisions of this article, or derive any profit or remuneration from the purchase or
sale of any such beverage, other than the salary or wages payable for the discharge of the duties
of the office or position, as herein prescribed or authorized.
(b) Any member of the Board, or any employee of said Board, violating the provisions
of this section shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine not exceeding two thousand dollars
($2,000.00) or to imprisonment, in the discretion of the court.

No person, firm, corporation or association other than a member or employee of the
Liquor Control Board shall sell in Dorchester County any alcoholic beverage except beer. And
no member or employee of such Liquor Control Board shall sell any alcoholic beverages on
Sundays or to an underaged person, mentally incapacitated person, or habitual drunkard. This
section shall not be construed to modify or supersede the present laws prohibiting the sale of
alcoholic beverages in Dorchester County without a license and all such laws, with penalties
provided for violation of the same, shall remain in full force and effect as to all persons or
corporations except the Liquor Control Board created by this subtitle, which shall have the
powers herein granted.]
SUBTITLE 2. DORCHESTER COUNTY TRANSITION.
18-201.
THE DORCHESTER COUNTY DISPENSARY SYSTEM SHALL REMAIN IN OPERATION
UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY ENACTS A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN OF
LEGISLATION THAT CREATES A RATIONAL SYSTEM OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
LICENSES FOR THE COUNTY.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That on October 1, 1996, subject
to the provisions of Title 18, Subtitle 2, the dispensary system shall terminate and all stock
shall be liquidated in a manner prescribed by the Liquor Control Board. Any profits from the
sale of the stock, after payment of expenses and debts, shall be distributed as follows:
(a) 50% to the Dorchester County government; and
(b) 50% to the Dorchester County General Hospital.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Liquor Control Board
shall terminate on October 1, 1996, but shall remain in effect after its termination only for the
purposes of terminating the dispensary system, liquidating the stock, and distributing the
profits. Once those purposes have been met, the Board shall cease to exist, subject to the
provisions of Title 18, Subtitle 2.
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1996.
