While certification of an individual as a security guard is in effect, the certification
authorizes the individual to represent to the public that the individual is certified by the
[Superintendent] SECRETARY for employment as a security guard.

DRAFTER'S NOTE:

This section is amended to reflect the status of the head of the Department of
State Police as the Secretary of a principal department of State government in
light of Chs. 165 and 166, Acts of 1994.

13-505.

(a)     The [Superintendent] SECRETARY shall issue to each individual who is
certified as a security guard under this subtitle a certification card that identifies the
individual as a certified security guard.

(b)     (1) Subject to this subsection, the [Superintendent] SECRETARY shall
determine the form and content of the certification card.

(3) The certification card shall contain:

(i) a statement that in substance specifies that the individual is
certified by the [Superintendent] SECRETARY as a security guard; and

(ii) any information that the [Superintendent] SECRETARY considers
appropriate to:

1.       identify the individual; or

2.       specify the authority of the individual.
DRAFTER'S NOTE:

Subsections (a) and (b)(1) and (3) of this section are amended to reflect the
status of the head of the Department of State Police as the Secretary of a
principal department of State government in light of Chs. 165 and 166, Acts of
1994.

Whenever a security guard is in uniform, the security guard shall wear a badge that
is:

(1)     of a design approved by the [Superintendent] SECRETARY; and

(2)     issued by the licensed private detective agency that employs the security
guard.
