SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section(s) 17-214.1 of
Article - Health - General of the Annotated Code of Maryland be renumbered to be
Section(s) 17-214.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That:

(a)     The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene shall study arrangements between
providers and medical laboratories in which: (1) a medical laboratory assigns an employee to
work at the office of the provider; and (2) the provider refers or agrees to refer business to the
medical laboratory; and

(b)     On or before December 32, 1995, the Department shall report the findings of its
study under subsection (a) of this section to the Senate Finance Committee and the House
Environmental Matters Committee and submit a copy of the report to the library of the
Department of Legislative Reference.

SECTION 3. 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1995.

AN ACT concerning

State Board of Physician Quality Assurance - Disciplinary Action —Disclosure

FOR the purpose of requiring certain investigations by the State Board of Physician
Quality Assurance to disclose to certain persons the information in the Board's
records concerning disciplinary action the Board takes against certain physicians
conduct include certain interviews as part of a preliminary investigation under
certain circumstances; and generally relating to disciplinary actions by the State
Board of Physician Quality Assurance against a physician.
